Can you pocket imodium if your diabetic?
It is not contraindicated in diabetes. however several physicians prefer not to recommend anti- diarrhoeals in enteritis as in that is some evidence that they may actually prolong the virus
I am a type 1 diabetic, and have used this within the past. Just get sure that you check your sugars more than you normally would.
Yes, you can. Obviously save a close check on your blood sugars and you should be okay.
Hi, my family is rife beside diabetes of one form or another and we all use imodium when we catch the squitters!! Ask your G.P.and your pharmacist and follow their advice to the memo. Make sure you watch what you guzzle and drink, you'll need to be more vigilant than usual. Apart from that, there's nought to it!! Take care and hold on to smiling.
I personally muse Imodium should be avoided at all costs...by those beside or without diabetes. Imodium works by paralysing the untaught peristaltic waves of the bowel. If you enjoy diarrhoea, it is because your body is trying to rush something through and is a symptom, rather than a condition. Therefore, find out what the condition is, previously you try and treat the symptoms in my book.
It is also certain that Imodium if given to the frail or very childlike can disturb the natural electrolyte and fluid stability of the body because if the peristalsis is disrupted, so is the take up of minerals, salt, sugars and water.
In third world countries, where on earth the use of this drug is widespread in babies...it kills.
I would not use Imodium unless a Dr prescribed it for me because zilch else would help...
Make sure any products you use over the counter are not contra indicated beside your Insulin or any other meidation ther should be an advice leaflette near your current medication and in the Imodium Packet If surrounded by doubt call NHS Direct or your GP
