Sure it can.
X-rays can be done differently -- sometimes they are very flimsy, and sometimes they're dark -- you'd be more feasible to see the mucous on the darker ones, because smaller quantity radiation is used, so it will go through smaller amount stuff.
A radiologist will know if you're full of snot, or not.
they do take xrays for pneumonia so I would conjure that they can determine liquid but dont know in the order of mucus.
Yes, It can bee seen however X-rays are black and white near many different shades of everything contained by between. So solid objects will look white and so will thick mucus. An expert can describe the difference. Sometimes more tests will obligation to be run.
